An afternoon Mini-Conference, Legacy Gallery, Victoria BC, March 25th 1pm–5pm.
University of Victoria Social Justice Studies and Community Media Canada are pleased to announce an afternoon mini-conference to explore the relationship between Canada's highly-concentrated corporate media and social justice issues.
Internet activist Steve Anderson of OpenMedia will deliver the keynote lecture Open Media, Open Democracy, followed by a panel discussion on the state of corporate and community media in Canada.
Panelists will include Tyee legislative correspondent Andrew MacLeod, freelance investigative journalist Sean Holman, community video producer Jack Etkin, Street NewZ publisher and editor Janine Bandcroft, and Community Media Canada founder Stuart Hertzog.
The mini-conference is sponsored by University of Victoria Social Justice Studies and Community Media Canada. It will be held at the University of Victoria’s downtown Legacy Art Gallery at the cornerof Yates and Broad Street in Victoria from 1–5p.m. on Saturday, March 25th, 2012. Admission is by donation.
